Installing

  1. Open the downloaded file, then drag Blu onto the Applications folder.
  2. Open Applications and double-click Blu.
  3. macOS says it can't verify the developer. Click Done. This is expected — the app isn't registered with Apple yet.
  4. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down to Security, and click Open Anyway.
  5. Enter your Mac password. Blu opens, and won't ask again.

Before it can do anything

Blu needs a model to talk to. In Settings, either paste an API key (Anthropic, OpenAI, GLM, Kimi, DeepSeek) or start Ollama or LM Studio to use a model already on your Mac.

Updates

Blu checks for a new version when it opens and asks before installing one. If a chat or a crew is running, it says so first — installing restarts the app and ends that work.
